联得维克男子公立中学院校介绍

Randwick Boys’ High was founded in 1883, only three years after the establishment of public education in New South Wales. In other words, the school is almost as old as public education itself.

We are located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, close to the busy hub of Randwick Junction and minutes from the CBD of the city. The area is well served by public transport and enjoys many facilities that make the community vibrant and diverse.

Randwick Boys’ High School was opened as a high school in 1949, although the site now has been thoroughly modernised. We share the site with Randwick Girls’ High School and this arrangement enables us to offer unique educational experiences as students benefit from both single sex educational opportunities and the availability of shared courses in some areas with the girls’ school. This means that the two schools offer a very broad curriculum and many extra-curricular opportunities.

The school has an active “old boys” network and often hosts tours for visiting old boys. If you are an old boy and wish to become a part of the network, please contact us and we will arrange for you to be added to our lists.

The school appeals to a wide range of parents who are looking for quality public school education in a diverse, multicultural setting. Randwick Boys’ is truly a multicultural school, with students and staff from every part of the globe. This makes the school a snapshot of multicultural Australia and enables students to develop tolerance and understanding through their daily interactions with others. We consider this to be a particular strength of the school; it creates the vibrancy that is evident throughout.

Our HSC students consistently achieve excellent academic outcomes and many progress to university or other tertiary study. We aim to cater for all students’ needs and our curriculum enables students of all ability levels to strive and succeed. We are developing a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on achieving one’s best and this is evident in our curriculum focus on literacy, numeracy and academic challenge at all levels.

The school promotes Gifted and Talented education through a number of avenues. Several sporting workshops enable students to develop their skills in chosen sports. Another highlight of the school is its involvement in the annual Rock Eisteddfod. Combining with our sister school, Randwick Boys’ High School has won the Eisteddfod at state level for many years and in 2007 the two schools combined to be National Champions.

Students are encouraged to explore their creative talents through innovative programs in dance, such as the Pacific Islander Workshop program, through voice, with a combined choir drawn from the boys’ and girls’ schools and through performance in both drama and music.

An active leadership program is being developed with the Students’ Representative Council and the Student Leadership Team, comprising the school Captains, Prefects and SRC.

An active P&C is involved in promoting the school in the wider community and as partners in the development of the school’s ethos of excellence, tolerance and achievement.

The school has clear guidelines on discipline and welfare and high expectations in terms of students’ participation. We encourage all boys to accept responsibility for their learning and actions and to become positive, responsible members of the community. Education is about developing the potential in the whole person and this is a responsibility that we take very seriously.
